Where We’re Working

Oregon

From devastating wildfires to extreme weather events, Oregonians know all too well how climate change can wreak havoc on their communities. The past decade has seen unprecedented increases in size and frequency of wildfire, and warmer winters also mean less snow, with current projections showing that by 2080, the Cascade Range will see an 80% reduction in April snowpack. This means more smoke in the summer, and less snow in the winter. Less snowmelt means lower, warmer rivers, and Oregon’s salmon runs are already declining as a result. From its coastlines to mountain ranges, Oregon’s $8.4 billion outdoor recreation industry, and the 73,000 jobs it supports, is under threat.

With major Senate and House seats up in November, this is the chance for Oregon’s Outdoor State to show up in force for the candidates who will pledge to protect the place we love.

GET INVOLVED

Elections in Oregon are won by razor thin margins– often by just a few thousand votes. By activating Oregon’s skiers, hunters, anglers, cyclists, surfers, paddlers, and climbers to volunteer for just two hours, we can help climate champions win across the ballot in November.
