We get it — voting can be hard. It’s confusing to know who’s the good guy or the bad guy on the ballot. As citizens of the Outdoor State, we’re all on the same team with the same goal in mind: protect our playground from the effects of climate change and those who choose to ignore it. When our passion turns into action, we can bring real political change. And that’s where we come in.
The Protect Our Winters Action Fund (POW AF) works to make action on climate
change a top policy priority for the outdoor sports community.
Picking the right line comes second-nature to the Outdoor State—you study the conditions, you know the terrain and you plan your route. Picking the right candidate isn’t always that simple. The Voter Guidebook is here to help—after all, we don’t want another elected official who thinks climate change is a myth.
Instead of chasing perfection, pursue progress. The outdoor community has the passion, the information, and the resources to make a difference now.
Truth: Climate change threatens the future of the snow sports industry and the communities that depend on winter to power mountain economies. It threatens outdoor enthusiasts who recreate in our mountains, rivers, forests and public lands in every season. Which is to say, climate change affects us everywhere we go. While the impacts of climate change stretch far beyond the recreation economy, these impacts deeply resonate with those of us who love the outdoors.
By illustrating the unmistakable relationship between climate and the outdoors – the very element that brings us all together – the POW Action Fund turns the outdoor community’s shared love of wild places into the political will needed to drive positive action on climate change.
Our sister organization, Protect Our Winters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that turns passionate outdoor people into effective climate advocates. POW leads a community of athletes, thought pioneers and forward-thinking business leaders to affect systemic political solutions to climate change.Visit POW
